Is Roger Clemens Serious About his Comeback?

During the past few years Roger Clemens has been in the spotlight for all of the wrong reasons. Whether it dealt with Clemens committing adultery or steroid allegations things have been shambles for the former 7- time Cy Young winner. In recent news talks have surfaced that Clemens wants to pitch for the Houston Astros preferably against a playoff contender before the season ends.

Clemens recently pitched with the Sugar Land Skeeters and showed that he may have an ounce left in the tank. At age 50 we know that this is not the Roger Clemens who won 354 career games and 7 Cy Young awards, but we do know that if Roger steps on the mound the fans and cameras will follow.

I don’t know if it is the love for the game or not wanting to be a part of the most tarnished Hall of Fame ballot in baseball history. What would the Astros lose? Nothing, the Astros have the worst record in all of baseball, so it will help to add a little juice to the ending to their season. The Houston Astros could use some help to fill up Minute Maid Park, and Clemens could be the answer for the short-term fix. Age ain’t nothing but a number, so we shall see how the “Rocket” fairs on the mound, but that’s only if he is serious.
