What We Learned During Week 9 During The NFL Season

The Steelers may be the team the beat in the AFC– The Steelers are clicking on all cylinders, and are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. The Steelers offense has been potent with their new attack under offensive coordinator Todd Haley, and the defense is becoming healthier. I thought the Steelers would have trouble with the Giants after not having a hotel to stay in due to Hurricane Sandy, but they made the Giants look mediocre which says a lot.

The running game is back– Backs such as Adrian Peterson, Doug Martin, Marshawn Lynch, Chris Johnson, and LeSean McCoy had big games this past week. It comes to show that the running game is still a force even though the NFL is in a passing frenzy.

Charles “Peanut” Tillman is playing out of his mind– Tillman and J.J. Watt are running neck and neck for the Defensive Player of the Year. Against the Tennessee Titans Tillman forced four fumbles which is absurd for a cornerback. Tillman has been the best player on a defensive unit that has made teams looked as if they were still in Pop Warner. We shall see if he keeps up his potential All-Pro season.

Andrew Luck is a winner– In the rookie bowl between Ryan Tannehill, Luck put up video game numbers (433 passing yards with 2 touchdowns) as he led the Colts to a victory over the Dolphins. Luck has been in RGIII’s shadow this season, but is on his way to a historic rookie season as well. Luck has already passed 2400 passing yards, and is on pace to pass for over 4,000 yards as a rookie. The Colts may find themselves in the playoffs this season after only winning two games last season. I think the Colts may have struck gold with Mr. Luck.

Darren McFadden can’t stay healthy– I’ve been waiting for McFadden to have that breakout season to show that he is a top-tier back. The talent is there, and when he is healthy he is arguably a top five running back. McFadden injured his ankle versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and could be out for multiple games. I guess I have to start a franchise on Madden with the Raiders to see if I can get McFadden to All-Pro status.

The Kansas City Chiefs will have the No.1 pick– Any team with the combination of Brady Quinn/Romeo Crennel or Matt Cassel/Romeo Crennel are doomed for failure. The Chiefs are in a lose/lose situation with their quarterbacks. This is the only team in the NFL that has yet to hold a lead this season. It will be a long year in Kansas City. Hey Cleveland at least you’re not Kansas City.
