Can Dice K turn it around in Cleveland?

diceKThis off-season the Cleveland Indians made minor noise by signing P Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league deal. The man they call Dice K may be a steal if he can get back on track after having more time to heal from Tommy John Surgery.

Honestly Dice K is in a good position he has nothing to lose, he’s back with his former manager and the Indians starting rotation doesn’t resemble the 90’s Braves so he may be able to crack the rotation with a good spring. Dice K came into the league with a lot of buzz because how much money the Red Sox’s had to spend to get him to come across the water. He backed it up for a few seasons before injuries came calling, I don’t think he was worth the boat load of cash they dumped to get him but he wasn’t a bum that’s for sure.

The 1st two season in Bean Town Dice K had a record of 33-15, 61 games started and an 3.72 ERA, not too shabby. After a good start he wasn’t nearly as dominate in the next four seasons with a 17-22 record, only 55 games started and an 5.53 ERA. The 2012 season was by far his worst as he posted a 1-7 record with a 8 plus ERA.

During the Spring with the Indians Dice K has had 3 appearances with a total of 7 innings pitched and has an ERA of 2.57. Very solid numbers for a guy who couldn’t get me out last year. Dice K doesn’t have much pressure on him in Cleveland who knows if he will be the guy during his 1st two years in the MLB but if he can be better than he last four years the Indians may have a steal with their low expectation signing.
