Front Office NBA Free Agent Rundown

With all of the moves that have happened since July 1st we are going to catch everyone up on the busy time that is the NBA Off season.

A sign and trade deal made it possible for this 3 team deal to be done between the Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings. Tyreke Evans signed a 4 year 44 million dollar deal while being sent to the Pelicans, Greivis Vasquez was sent to the Kings and Robin Lopez was sent to the Blazers. After trading for Jrue Holiday that made Vasquez expendable.

Al Jefferson, Harrison BarnesThe Charlotte Bobcats finally made a smart move by getting PF/C Al Jefferson to sign a 3 year 41 million contract. The deal has a 3 year player option so he can bolt after 2 years which is pretty smart on Jefferson’s behalf lol.

The New York Knicks resign reigning Sixth Man of the Year winner J.R. Smith to a 4 year 24.7 million dollar deal. Smith is a good player but this is a head scratching move after drafting Tim Hardaway, Jr. in the 1st round but who I’m I?

The Knicks also resigned PG Pablo Prigioni to a 3 year 6 million deal.

The San Antonio Spurs have been busy this off season. They have resigned C Tiago Splitter for 4 years 36 million dollars. Yes, it pays to be tall. Manu Ginobili 2 years 14 million dollars. A pretty fair amount for the aging star. They seem to be cutting ties with Gary Neal as they sign Guard Marco Belinelli to a 2 year 5.6 million dollar deal. Marco played well for the Bulls last season.

The Cleveland Cavs signed Forward Earl Clark to a 2 year deal worth 9 million dollars. As a Lakers fan I’m sad to see him go.

The biggest resigning so far is the Los Angeles Clippers keeping Chris Paul. He got cashed out at 5 years 107 million dollars. Getting Doc Rivers was the lynch pin that cemented CP3 in Clipperland.

The Minnesota Timberwolves signed Kevin Martin to a 4 year 30 million dollar deal. This is a solid move by the T’Wolves it should help them be more competitive. They also resigned SF Chase Budinger to a 3 year 16 million dollar deal.

The Washington Wizards resigned SF Martell Webster to a 4 year 22 million dollar deal.

Miami Heat v Indiana Pacers - Game SixThe Indiana Pacers resigned PF David West to a 3 year 36 million dollar deal. This was a good move by the team that pushed the Heat to game 7 in the ECF. They also signed PG C.J. Watson to a 2 year deal. I don’t like this move that much because Watson won’t help much against the Heat when the pressure is on but maybe I’m wrong.

The Brooklyn Nets have had a busy off season they have resigned PF/C Andray Blatche to a one year deal worth 1.4 million. The Nets also had a blockbuster trade go down with the Celtics sending Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Kris Joseph, MarShon Brooks, Keith Bogans and the 1st round picks of the 14, 16 and 18 draft to Boston. The Nets received Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. The Nets will be an interesting team next year that is for sure.

The Memphis Grizzlies resigned Tony Allen to a 4 year 2o million dollar deal. Allen is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and the heart and soul of this Grizzlies team.

There was also another 3 team trade between the Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers. A sign and trade was done with J.J. Redick, he cashed out for 4 years 27 million. The Clippers received J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley. The Suns received Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler. The Bucks received two 2nd round picks one from the Suns and one from the Clippers.

The Chicago Bulls signed G/F Mike Dunleavy, Jr. to a 2 year deal worth 6 million dollars.

The New York Knicks traded for PF/C Andrea Bargnani and sent C Marcus Camby and F Steve Novak to the Raptors. If you seen all of the moves the Knicks have made this off season only the basketball gods know what they are trying to accomplish. Hopefully Andrea stays healthy.

As of 7/4 around 7 pm this has been all of the major movement at the time. Let us know which moves you like, dislike and what do you think the remaining free agents will do.

Updated 7/6 at 3:30.

The Detroit Pistons sign Forward Josh Smith to a 4 year 56 million dollar contract. I don’t understand this move but maybe the Pistons are going to start Monroe at Center and Smith at Power Forward? Seems like this move will hold back Drummond’s development.

The Milwaukee Bucks sign SG OJ Mayo to a 3 year 24 million dollar deal. I think this is a pretty solid deal for the Bucks and Mayo now they can worry about Jennings.

The Dallas Mavericks sign PG Jose Calderon to a 4 year 29 million dollar deal. Very solid pickup for the Mavs.

The Clippers resign SF Matt Barnes to a 3 year 11 million dollar deal.

The Atlanta Hawks in another puzzling move signed Forward Paul Millsap to a 2 year 19 million dollar deal. Seems like they just don’t want Al Horford to play power forward smh.

The Hawks also signed Millsap’s former Jazz teammate DeMarre Carroll.

The New Orleans Pelicans resigned Forward Al-Farouq Aminu to a one year deal.

The Houston Rockets signed C Dwight Howard to a 4 year 88 million dollar deal. This should be called the “Indecision 2013”
