Last week the Bobcats finally made a move that everyone didn’t laugh or shake their head at. I know, I was totally shocked also, when I saw multiple sources *Chris Broussard voice* state that the Charlotte Bobcats signed PF/C Al Jefferson to a 3 year contract, I thought to myself Michael must not be on Molly today. We all know Molly is a hell of a drug, which a lot of decisions seem to be made off of in the Bobcats front office no pun intended.
Al Jefferson got paid 41 million for 3 years with a player option to bolt after year 2, which I think was very bright on his behalf just in case, these Bobcats go Bobcat on him.
Jefferson brings the Bobcats a low post presence most teams don’t have in the NBA. He can get buckets back to the basket or face up if it wasn’t for his low key demeanor and the markets he has played in more people would be excited for this signing. Personally, I’d rather have Jefferson over Howard, yeah I said it throw stones at me if you want but Jefferson has wayyyyy more offensive skill than Howard, he just doesn’t have the pure athleticism that D12 has and of course Howard is better on defense but that’s his lynch pin.
Jefferson is a poor man’s Tim Duncan in my eyes, which isn’t a knock on his game at all. He has career averages of 16.4 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 1.5 bpg which aren’t anything to sneeze at considering his first two years he didn’t get much clock and he had a devastating knee injury in 09.
With the signing of Jefferson it makes me wonder even more why they didn’t aim for McLemore in the draft with the number 4 pick but you can’t look backwards only forwards. Maybe Zeller and Jefferson can be a legit pairing. We all know Al is going to get his on a nightly basis maybe he can help turn around the lowly Bobcats. Clap for his “airness” for finally making a smart decision for once. They say a broken clock is right twice a day.
