TFON and Friends talk NFL’s new domestic violence policy

Chris Bains, EIC of Cincy on The Prowl-

I think the new Domestic Violence Policy is fair in the relative sense that their original rule was a complete and utter joke. A 2 game suspension for this when players who use Adderall (Wes Welker), a dubbed “performance enhancement” that several high schoolers use legally, get 4 games is unreal.

Apparently the NFL has deemed that players harming themselves is far worse than harming others.

So I’m pleased to hear Roger Goodell has revisited and corrected the policy, expanding it to 6 games for first-time offenders and a lifetime ban for second-time offenders. But I’m curious if the full video of Ray Rice hitting his wife hadn’t been leaked would the NFL had addressed the incident at all. It seemed like they were content at holding out the Baltimore running back for 2 games and hoping the whole thing would blow over. That might be the most tragic part of this whole thing, that it took intense negative publicity for Goodell and those in the NFL’s front office to create an even semi-reasonable punishment.
