Revis is about his cash and that is ok!

Yesterday Darrelle Revis returned to the New York Jets, yes the same Jets that drafted him, yes the same Jets that traded him away, but after a two year leave of absence the Jets signed on of their biggest stars to a nice contract.

Revis is coming off being a rental player for the New England Patriots where he signed a two year deal worth $32 million. The first year paid Revis $12 million and the second year was a club option for $20 million which the Patriots declined and with doing so lost its best defensive player. He did help the Patriots win the Super Bowl, but we know how the Patriots work they don’t ever want to pay a player their full worth and if you know Revis he’s about his cash no matter the circumstance.

With the Patriots not wanted to pay fair market value for the best cornerback in the game it made the Jets reunion possible. Revis cashed out to the tune $70 million over five years with $39 million fully guaranteed over the first three years. I hear people are pissed at Revis for grabbing his cash, but just check the free agency landscape right now players are getting cut and traded like football cards because said team doesn’t want to pay these guys. If you have a minor slip up you are yesterday’s news in the NFL and people have the nerve to get made at the player for wanting security.

Revis is playing the game smarter than the higher ups the way he’s maximizing his earnings he was able to get a nice deals from the Jets, Bucs, Pats and now the Jets again. Cash those checks homie, get paid because if he has a major injury or a down year he will be out with the trash, but Revis has a three year window to get paid and that’s ok!
