What about Tre Mason?

During the first round of the NFL draft a lot of the trades and rumors never came to fruition, but the don’t draft a running back in the first round hiatus finally came to an end. The St. Louis Rams with the 10th pick drafted running back Todd Gurley from the University of Georgia. The Chargers even moved two spots to get Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon III. It was cool to finally see some running backs get drafted in the 1st round especially with the knee injury Gurley endured during his junior season. Once I got over the happiness of a running back getting drafted I thought to myself what the hell are the Rams doing?

Last year the Rams got a steal in the 3rd round by getting Tre Mason out of Auburn, he too had an injury that dropped his stock. During his rookie season Mason ran for 765 yards and 4 touchdowns in 12 games. Which isn’t bad considering the Rams had no quarterback and he missed a quarter of the season. I personally thought Mason was the building block in the back field, but with Gurley coming on board knee injury and all we all know it’s only a matter of time before the Rams give him the keys to the car as the workhorse back.

Mason plays better than his 5’8” 207 lbs frame showed a knack for the big play highlighted by an 89 yard touchdown run versus the Broncos.

Mason fired off a few tweets after the Rams pick was made official. After seeing those tweets I’m sure it won’t be easy for Gurley to get the number one spot, but the writing is on the wall.

My question is why not get offensive line help? I bet Mason is asking the same thing, but he can’t cry over spilled milk!
