Bearcats bring pain to Bulldogs in home opener, 63-7

The Cincinnati Bearcats were fresh off of a 21-0 win versus their rival Miami of Ohio they welcomed in the Alabama A&M Bulldogs for the home opener at Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats were looking to start the season 3-0.

It didn’t take long for the passing game to get on track as Desmond Ridder found Thomas Geddis for a 29 yard touchdown within the first two minutes of the game. They got the ball back and Ridder scored on a 22 yard run. After another defensive stop Ridder hit Kahlil Lewis for a 61 yard bomb and before the end of the quarter he hit Josiah DeGuara for a 22 yard touchdown. By the end of the first quarter the Bearcats were up 28-0 and Ridder had a stat line of 9-of-10 passing for 199 yards (career high) three touchdowns (career high) and one rushing touchdown. Lewis had four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Mike Warren joined the scoring party in the second quarter with a 6 yard touchdown run. He finished the night with six carries for 78 yards and a touchdown. His freshman counterparts did a great job both rushing over 100 yards a piece. The defense didn’t allow over 100 yards total in the first half (81).

Pure dominate performance by the Bearcats Ridder, Hayden Moore, Ben Bryant and Jake Sopko got to play quarterback tonight. They combined for 332 yards passing. Tavion Thomas had 18 rushes for 141 yards and two touchdowns and Charles McClelland had 16 rushes for 121 yards and one touchdown. 11 receivers had catches tonight led by Jayshon Jackson with six (and 80 yards). The defense only gave up 182 total yards.

The Bearcats won 63-7 and move to 3-0 overall and they invite Ohio into Nippert next Saturday at Noon.
