Cincinnati dominates UConn 49-7 to open up conference play

The Cincinnati Bearcats traveled to face the Connecticut Huskies for their first American Athletic Conference game of the season. The Bearcats came into the game 4-0 and carrying one of the best defenses in the country so far this season.

The Huskies struck first, but it would be the last time they would score for the rest of the game as the Bearcats went on a 49-0 run to win 49-7. In this game it was countless nice plays on both sides of the ball. Linebacker Perry Young returned to the field after sitting out against Ohio due to an ankle injury. He finished the game with eight tackles. The defense held UConn to 266 total yards.

The offense held it down once again after starting out slightly slow they finished with 659 total yards. Desmond Ridder had another strong game going 20-of-26 passing for 270 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 41 yards and one touchdown. Josiah DeGuara had a monster game with five catches for 112 yards and one touchdown. Mike Warren did what he’s done on a weekly basis with 13 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns, he also had four catches for 41 yards.

Hayden Moore got some playing time today and went 3-of-3 passing for 69 yards and rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown. Running back Taylor Boose got his first action today and rushed for 66 yards. Tavion Thomas also had 56 yards and a touchdown.

The Bearcats are now 5-0 with Tulane coming to Nippert Stadium Saturday at Noon for homecoming next weekend.
