Cincinnati wins Emerald Coast Classic 71-57, Ole Miss makes five in a row

The Cincinnati Bearcats beat the Ole Miss Rebels 71-57 to win the Emerald Coast Classic. Jarron Cumberland led all scorers with 25 points. Cumberland shot 5-of-17 from the field, 13-of-14 from the line, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Nobody else had double digits, but three other Bearcats had nine points (Cane Broome, Tre Scott and Keith Williams).

They held Ole Miss to 37.3% from the field and 14.3% from three so we know Coach Cronin loves that. The Bearcats won the rebounding battle 33-27 and the turnover battle 11-7.

Cincinnati is now 5-1 overall and play Tuesday at Fifth Third Arena to see if they can push the streak to six in a row.

Cumberland was the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after averering 18.0 points during the two games in Florida.

Broome named to All-tournament team after averaging 15.0 points during the two games in Florida.

I didn’t get to watch much of the game so I added highlights from CBS Sports and BearcatsTV.
