Jonah Williams injury is a huge set back for the Bengals in 2019

Tuesday it was reported that offensive tackle Jonah Williams will be out the entire 2019 season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The 11th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft won’t see game action until 2020 and it is a devastating blow to the Bengals plans in 2019.

Williams was set to be Andy Dalton’s protector of his blind side. With the rookie on board, Cordy Glenn was set to move to guard, now they may have to revisit that choice or hunt for a one year rental via trade. We know they can’t move Bobby Hart to the left side, but Williams getting hurt highlights the deal given to Hart even when this injury has nothing to do with him. People will say this is why you should’ve drafted Dwayne Haskins (Washington quarterback) and even if that should’ve been the move you can’t blame the injury on why he wasn’t picked. Even if Haskins was picked he could’ve gotten injured also.

The injury bug has hit a lot of the Bengals recent first round picks, William Jackson (out for his rookie year), John Ross (missed a significant amount of his rookie year), Billy Price (missed a significant amount of his rookie year) and now Jonah Williams (out for his rookie year).

New coach, same injury to a first round pick, are Bengals first round picks cursed? Who knows, but they had bad luck in the Queen City as of late. Williams was going to be the Andrew Withworth for the Bengals, you saw the success Zac Taylor had with Withworth on Los Angeles. Now the Bengals will have to wait a year to plug in their plug in play pick. Get well Jonah! The interesting thing will be how will Taylor and crew fill the huge void left by the injury.
