Bearcats lose RB McClelland for the season, waiting on news from S Wiggins injury

Per two reliable sources the Cincinnati Bearcats have lost running back Charles McClelland for the season with an ACL injury. The sophomore ran for 485 yards and four touchdowns while also racking up 108 yards receiving and a touchdown as a true freshman. Running back is deep, but the Bearcats can’t be happy with the news McClelland is likely out for the season. Get well Chuck!

Per depth chart freshman Ryan Montgomery will move up with the injury.

Safety James Wiggins tweaked his knee at practice and hopefully they get good news this evening. Wiggins had 54 tackles and four interceptions as a sophomore. He also earned second team All-AAC last season and is on multiple watch lists in the preseason. Hopefully it isn’t a serious injury for Wiggins if he’s out Alabama transfer Kyriq McDonald will have to carry the extra weight.

Fingers crossed Cincinnati gets good news tonight.

  1. Bad break for the Bearcats. Will certainly miss what both of these guys bring to the table. Thankfully Coach Fick and staff have recruited depth like we have never seen before at UC. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for both young men.
