Bearcats bye week check in: Offense

We have now moved passed the halfway point of the football season, the Bearcats sit atop the division at 6-1 overall (3-0 in conference) and find themselves with another week off.  Lets take a look by position group to see how the team has fared so far this year starting with the offensive unit.

Quarterback = B

Yes, Desmond Ridder looked sluggish early on in the season and then the OSU fiasco probably smashed whatever little confidence was remaining, but since that OSU game and the first bye week Ridder has started to morph back into what he was a year ago.

A lot of the offensive struggles UC has had to this point it could be argued would fall more on the situation with the offensive line as well as the play-calling, something UC fans take to twitter to complain about every week (myself included).  Ridder has gotten himself back up to a 60% completion rate to go with 14 touchdowns and I think he would be even more effective if he looked to keep the ball more on the zone reads and get himself more involved with his legs.  At the end of the day Ridder has weathered a brutal front loaded schedule and kept UC’s New Year’s Day bowl aspirations alive and when it comes down to it that’s all you want from the leader of the offense.
