Bearcats dominate Pirates 82-57

The Cincinnati Bearcats took on the East Carolina Pirates on Sunday night in Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats were coming off a loss to No. 22 Memphis, making them 3-2 in the conference and 10-7 overall. ECU came in 2-2 in the conference, 8-9 overall. The Bearcats started their same five they have over the past few games. Vogt is currently No. 4 in the country in field goal percentage and has been dominate in the paint all season.

From the very start the Bearcats had control of this game. They started the game with a 7-0 run and didn’t let up. Brannen rotated in 11 different players and almost everyone scored at least two points. Scott led the team in the first half with 10 points and had five rebounds. The Bearcats looked much better and much more dominate in this game than they did against Memphis on Thursday. The team clicked and they did a good job of playing unselfish by moving the ball and finding the open shot. UC shot 52 % from the field and 5-of-10 from behind the arc. The largest lead of the half was 20 points by UC. The score at half time was 45-28, UC.

The Bearcats continued their hot streak into the second half, where they kept adding to their lead. Scott continued to dominate in the second half and both Cumberland’s stepped it up. Jay Sorolla also got some good minutes and he exceeded his season high of nine points and ended with 11. This team just looked so complete and dominate, the complete opposite of how they looked against Memphis. The Bearcats are currently ranked 64thin the country, but if they can beat No. 16 Wichita State and No. 22 Memphis when they come to town, they have a chance to crack the top 25, and if they continue this play through the AAC tournament, they could win and continue their streak of 9 straight NCAA appearances. Scott finished the game with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Jarron Cumberland had 13 points, and Keith Williams had 11 rebounds. The Bearcats move to 11-7 and 4-2 in the conference with their 82-57 win over ECU.
