Cincinnati doesn’t take advantage of Scott’s career day in an OT loss to UConn, 72-71

Cincinnati Bearcats stayed on the road to face the UConn Huskies. Cincinnati came into the game on a five game winning streak, would they be able to push that streak to six games?

Cincinnati rode hot shooting from Keith Williams and Tre Scott in the first half to keep the game close. Williams had 12 points and Scott led the way with 13. Jarron Cumberland had seven assists. UConn took a 34-30 lead into the half. Christian Vital led the way for UConn in the first half with 14 points.

Cincinnati was able to catch up in the second half and get into overtime behind a career day by Scott who finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds. He also had four steals, two assists and two blocks. Williams had 14 points, Chris Vogt had 10 points. Jar. Cumberland had a career high 10 assists, but only scored eight points on 1-of-11 from the field. Cumberland’s last two shots and overtime were good looks, but he didn’t get the calls he deserved.

The winning streak is over with the 72-71 loss. Cincinnati is now 15-8 overall and 8-3 in the AAC, they will play Memphis on Thursday at home.
