No fans allowed at UC’s season opener

It was reported this morning that the Cincinnati Bearcats season opener against Austin Peay, September 19th will not have fans in attendance. Mike DeWine stated that venues could have 15% of its capacity due to covid. It’s big news, but it is probably the best decision especially with the Bearcats having a chance to play this season.

Per GoBearcats:

SUMMARY POINTS

  1. UC has moved its game versus Austin Peay to Saturday, September 19 and will not schedule a game before this date and likely not schedule any other non-conference game.
  2. UC will start the season without fans in Nippert Stadium. Fans could be permitted in the stadium later in the season only if UC determines it is safe and appropriate to do so. UC is not holding to a timeframe on such a determination.
  3. There will be no football season tickets. Season ticket holder status and ticket locations will automatically be rolled over to the 2021 season, for all season ticket holders. Season ticket holders who made adjustments to their ticket location for the 2020 season during the annual upgrade period will see those locations carry over to 2021.
  4. UC will follow strict health and safety protocols for its student-athletes. This will include enhanced testing, daily health and safety checks, and the creation and maintenance of a stringent gameday “bubble.”
  5. UC is enacting the Bearcats Ticket Assurance Plan for 2020 football season-ticket holders. UC is asking fans to consider donating all or a portion of their usual ticket and priority-seating investments back to the department. If neither of these options is feasible, UC is asking fans to apply their current payment forward to the 2021 season.

More detail about each of these options in the Bearcats Ticket Assurance Plan can be found by clicking HERE.
