WBB: Bearcats Season-Opener opponent changed to NKU

With the women’s team slated to start their season on Wednesday they had a schedule change from North Carolina A&T to their cross river neighbor Northern Kentucky University. The game will be at 6 pm on ESPN+ on Wednesday.

Per GoBearcats:

The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team will open its 2020-21 season against a different opponent than was originally listed on its nonconference schedule announced on Nov. 12.

The Bearcats will welcome Northern Kentucky to Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast by ESPN+. For more information on ESPN+, please click HERE. https://gobearcats.com/sb_output.aspx?form=60.

UC was scheduled to play host to North Carolina A&T on the same day and tip time. However, due to new COVID-19 protocols in the state of North Carolina and at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference school, the Aggies will not be making the trip to Cincinnati.

The matchup between the Bearcats and Norse will be the 20th in series history, with NKU owning a slight 10-9 advantage. The two teams have met four times this decade with the home team winning each contest. UC won the last meeting in the series, claiming a 71-68 victory over NKU on Nov. 18, 2015 at Fifth Third Arena.

UC’s five-game non-league slate also includes home games against fifth-ranked Louisville (Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.) and against Xavier (Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.) in the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout. The other two games take place on the road, at Florida (Dec. 5 at 1 p.m.) and at Central Michigan (Dec. 12 at noon).

The American Athletic Conference portion of UC’s schedule was released on Nov. 20. Tip times and broadcast information for league games will be released at a later date.
