Breaking: MSU’s Mike Tressel to become UC’s new DC

It has been reported by Yahoo’s Pete Thamel that Michigan State safeties coach Mike Tressel will become Cincinnati’s new defensive coordinator. Tressel is the nephew of Jim Tressel. He has been on the Michigan State staff since 2007, he’s been the linebacker, special team, defensive coordinator and safety coach. Tressel was also in Cincinnati from 2004 to 2006 as a linebacker/special teams coach.

Tressel will be replacing Marcus Freeman, but he is a guy who is familiar with he Ohio landscape. He has big shoes to fill, but Luke Fickell has earned the benefit of doubt. Hopefully Tressel can keep this unit rolling, he will have a lot of quality pieces in 2021.
