Bearcats get Clemson transfer John Newman III

The Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball team has been busy the last couple of days and they just keep on going. From the news of brand new head coach Wes Miller to getting back key freshman guards Mike Saunders Jr and Mason Madsen, Bearcats basketball seems to be finding strides now. They got more news on Tuesday night when they got the first transfer in the Wes Miller era in John Newman III. The shooting guard was a transfer from Clemson who had originally committed to UNCG under Miller before he decided to take the job here at Cincinnati.

Newman averaged 3.7 points last season on top of 2.0 rebounds and an assist last season. Newman has battled injuries the last couple of years, but when healthy has been valuable as in 2019 he averaged 9.5 points a game. Newman brings tough defense and amazing work ethic to the Bearcats. Newman will be a great piece to the Wes Miller era and this is just the beginning for the transfer portal. The Bearcats now this week have gotten three recruits and are finally starting to build the new Wes Miller roster. The Bearcats will look to strive and get back to their winning ways in 2021.

The Front Office News staff congratulates John and his family and we look forward to covering you for the next couple of years!
