Jarron Cumberland signs with Aris Thessaloniki

Yesterday, former Bearcat guard Jarron Cumberland announced he was taking his talents overseas to Greece to join The Aris Thessaloniki basketball club. The Wilmington, Ohio native played for the Bearcats program in 2016-2020 where he scored over 1800 points in his career. Cumberland played a big role in the Bearcats success in recent years where he won AAC Player of the Year in 2018-2019 where he averaged 18.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game, as he led the Bearcats to the NCAA tournament. Cumberland was a fan favorite during his time at Cincinnati as he was an electric scorer and had the ability to shoot from just about anywhere on the court, as well as bring an insane amount of energy for the Bearcats as he found ways to get Fifth Third Arena rocking every game with his play. Cumberland finished his fantastic college career averaging 15.5 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, on 38.4% shooting.

Recently Cumberland has spent time in the NBA G-League as he was drafted 12th overall in the 2020-2021 G-League draft by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Cumberland was traded shortly after to the Toronto Raptors G-League affiliate Raptors 905 where he appeared in 12 games before the season was cut short due to Covid-19. Cumberland has been here in Cincinnati continuing to train for what opportunity was going to come next as he just finished playing in The Smith League which is a pro-am league here in the Cincinnati area that features all the local talent for a summer league. Cumberland’s team “the hometown heros” actually just won the championship over the weekend after a great run this summer, the Bearcat legend is now going to take his talents overseas and look to begin this chapter in his playing.

The Front Office News staff would like to congratulate the Bearcat legend on the next step in his career as he looks to head overseas to Greece and jumpstart his pro career.
