Ahmad Gardner and Coby Bryant embracing the leadership roles

The Bearcats defense, a veteran oriented group coming off a very successful 2020 season is off to an even better start to their 2021 season which is led by veteran defensive backs Coby Bryant and Ahmad Gardner along with defensive end Myjai Sanders. These three had a big 2020 season that led the Bearcats to a New Year’s Six Bowl game.

The Bearcats defense is off to a hot start this year after they returned most of the seniors after a hard tough fought loss to SEC powerhouse Georgia in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl roughly 9 months ago, the Bearcats had some big decisions awaiting shortly after.

One of those decisions, had to be made by senior defensive back Coby Bryant. Bryant had the opportunity to go to the NFL or he had the option to come back due to the Covid-19 eligibility that was granted to all athletes. He had the option to come back to Cincinnati and continue the success he has had with the Bearcats over his first four seasons. He had the opportunity to sit and think of what could happen if he did comeback, poised for success either way he decided, Bryant decided to come back and not just for a dream of playing in the NFL, but for the person he is, the leader within the Bearcats locker room.

After speaking to Coby after the spring game this season, this quote shows the kind of player and leader he is for the Bearcats. We talk his decision to come back for the extra year of eligibility, especially after the season the Bearcats had in 2020.
