The Bearcats are coming off a season where they were led by running back Jerome Ford, who took most the carries for the Bearcats, where he had a career year where he finished with 215 carries, 1,319 rushing yards, and 19 touchdowns, where he averaged 6.1 yards a carry. Ford, also was a big weapon for Desmond Ridder in the passing game where he caught 21 passes for 220 yards, and a score. Like, the ongoing battle at quarterback, the Bearcats also have a battle at the running back position, that features guys like Corey Kiner, Ryan Montgomery, Charles McClelland and Myles Montgomery. As we now wrap up fall camp for the Bearcats, let’s break down the running back room so far after what we have seen the last three weeks in camp. If you’re Bearcats running backs coach Darren Paige, you have to be absolutely fired up for what talent is in that running back room.
“We have a lot of experience coming back with a lot of youth on the back end, new faces like Corey Kiner. They are competing together, but they are also sticking, growing together. They are challenging each other in the meeting rooms, it’s been really neat to watch them grow as a unit to make sure everyone is going to be their best,” said coach Paige.
“The intensity and competitive spirit within that running back room has helped make me and all of my teammates better. I feel like that healthy competition has pushed us forward honestly, just making us a better team on both sides of the ball honestly.”
