Lakhin’s big block seals Bearcats 54-52 victory on the road versus SMU

On Saturday afternoon, Cincinnati traveled down to Dallas, Texas to play AAC foe SMU. Cincinnati came in off a big win against ECU and needed to keep the momentum rolling on the road against a down SMU team.

In the first half Cincinnati was able to take a 29-27 lead into the half. Establishing themselves behind the solid play of Landers Nolley and Mika Adams-Woods. Landers had eight points and nine rebounds. Adams-Woods had 10 points.

In the second half Cincinnati did a good job keeping a good lead behind the play of Mika Adams-Woods and Landers Nolley, both players made huge shots to keep SMU at bay. Cincinnati went up by 5 points late 54-49, and after a ton of defensive stands and crazy plays they pulled off the victory on the road, 54-52. Viktor Lakhin had a huge block and rebound, but didn’t hit rim on an intentional miss that gave SMU a chance, but SMU couldn’t take advantage and Cincinnati has turned into two wins in a row.

Nolley had his second double double in a row with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Adams-Woods had 16 points on 6-of-9 from the floor and four threes. Cincinnati had two other players with double digit rebounds with Lakhin and Ody Oguama both slapping up 10 a piece. Lakhin had a career high eight blocks.

Cincinnati will play USF on the road on Wednesday at 7 pm.
