The last time we watched the Cincinnati Bearcats they squeaked by SMU on the road. Coming into the game with a two game winning streak standing at 13-6 overall (4-2 in the AAC) having a good game in Tampa, Florida is important ahead of hosting Memphis on Sunday. Would they be able to get another win on the road against the USF Bulls?
This game was about the effective play of David DeJulius and Landers Nolley. Both finished with 21 points, DeJulius on 7-of-8 from the floor (2-of-2 from 3) and seven assists, the senior had it rolling all over the floor, he had a perfect first half with 16 points on 6-of-6 from the floor. Nolley had nine rebounds and six assists, just missing his third double digit rebound performance in a row by one. After USF took a 10-4 lead, the Bearcats made a 17-2 run and never looked back. Freshman Dan Skillings had a great game with 11 points (scoring nine in the first half). The freshman continues to make positive steps more and more he plays. Kalu Ezikpe also had some effective minutes scoring six points on 3-of-3 from the floor.
Cincinnati only had four turnovers for the whole game and didn’t have a single turnover in the first half. If you only have four turnovers you are going to win a lot of games, on top of hitting 41% of their 3’s. Cincinnati won the rebound battle for the fifth game in a row.
Now sitting at 14-6 overall (5-2 in the AAC), they will head back to Fifth Third Arena to face Memphis on Sunday at 1 pm. Can they push their three game winning streak to four? We will find out on Sunday.
