WBB: Reports say former Memphis head coach Katrina Merriweather is coming to Cincinnati

Late last night multiple sources stated that Memphis head coach Katrina Merriweather parted ways with Memphis. That information was made public by the school after reports stated that Merriweather would be Cincinnati’s new women’s head coach.

She played for Cincinnati from 1997-2001. Started coaching as a graduate assistant in 2002 with the program. Went on to be an assistant at UIC, Purdue and Wright State from 2002-2016 before landing her first head coaching job with Wright State the 2016-2017 season. She coached Wright State until 2021 and was at Memphis until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

She went 22-11 overall and 11-4 in the AAC last season. Memphis went 2-1 in the NIT this year.

Cincinnati brings a Bearcat home before heading into the Big 12. She will be replacing Michelle Clark-Heard who was running the program for the last five seasons.

Congrats to Katrina!
