TBT: Nasty Nati knocks off The Money Team 88-76

In the Nasty Nati’s first game of The Basketball Tournament they faced The Money Team. Nasty Nati had a couple of late cancellations with Tre Scott and Keith Williams not being on the roster. Last year, they lost at Cintas, but could they change their fortunes today?

In the first quarter it was hot shooting from Mamoudou Diarra who had Nasty Nati’s first eight points with two 3’s in the process. They ended the quarter tied at 21. In the second quarter it seemed that TBT was going to have a 9 point lead behind the play of Jordan Crawford and T. Zubcic, but Jarron Cumberland had a nice steal and three before the half to cut the lead to 6.

In the third quarter Nasty Nati looked like a different team as they turned a 6 point deficit into a 6 point lead. Jacob Evans got it going in the third with 11 points and five rebounds. In the fourth quarter they took a 7 point lead to the Elam Ending with a target score of 88. Cumberland made two 3’s with one ending the game giving Nasty Nati a 88-76 win.

Cumberland had 28 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. Evans had 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Diarra finished with 13 points and five rebounds.

They will play at Cintas tomorrow against Zip Em Up or Georgia Kings at 8 pm.
