Quick look at the Bearcats offense after day No. 1 of fall camp

Metayer Time in Cincinnati

Chamon Metayer looks to become the next great Cincinnati tight end after seeing Josh Whyle and Lenny Taylor both head off to the NFL this Spring. Metayer flashed during the 2022 Spring Game and caught a lot of people’s attention, but is coming off a season where he appeared in only six games a season ago, after missing some time due to injury. Metayer, a 6’5″, 248 pound tight end can not only be a benefit in the box as a blocker, but he can get down and really stretch the field as well and be a huge threat in the passing game. Metayer, was also clocked at around 20 mph this offseason, and at that size with his frame, is very impressive and can cause a lot of problems for opposing teams if he can stay healthy for the Bearcats this season.

“It’s time, we told him, you have all the right tools to be a guy who can really contribute for what we want to do offensively,” said Brad Glenn. “I like Chamon especially because he is a guy who can do multiple things, he’s a very versatile tight end. Sometimes in the tight end world, you have a guy who is more like a wide receiver, or a guy who is like an extra offensive lineman blocking in the box. I think Chamon, and Payton [Singletary} could be those type of guys, you kept on the field at all times, and don’t substitute them for other tight ends, in order to keep your foot on the gas. However, Chamon knows it is time to go produce, he’s having a great spring and summer, he knows the expectation level.”
