INTO THE CLEAR: my thoughts and mindset ahead of the Bearcats first game as Big 12 members and with head coach Scott Satterfield

And if they do, look at what he accomplished at Appalachian State. Look at how he rebuilt Louisville. Again, no other team in college football besides Louisville averaged 200 yards rushing “AND” passing over the last four seasons. Dynamic offenses win in the Big 12. That’s what Satterfield is attempting to establish here in Cincinnati.

Eastern Kentucky may not be the most attractive opponent for week one. But come on! This is the first game as Big 12 members for the Bearcats! How can you not be excited? It’s truly a new era of Bearcats Football! Sold-out Nippert Stadium, new quarterback in Emory Jones, defense that can bring the crowd to its feet. There’s a lot of excitement going down tomorrow afternoon!

As for EKU, this is a decent FCS team. With seven or more wins in five of their last seven seasons, the Colonels enter 2023 off a very successful 2022 season. The Colonels averaged well over 300 passing yards per game in 2022 going 7-5. But where the Bearcats can feast tomorrow is EKU’s atrocious run defense, where they gave up 240 rushing yards per game in 2022.

This is a good opponent for the Bearcats to play in week one. It’s a good chance to show what this team can do offensively. I think Cincinnati rolls in this game.

Game pick: Bearcats 48 Eastern Kentucky 14
