FRANKIE’s Thoughts: Go ahead and raise your expectations for this Bearcats team

Bearcats wide receiver Braden Smith had a breakout game, and highlight reel catch, by leading the Bearcats with 59 receiving yards and a touchdown. Pitt’s secondary did notch an interception, but only had one pass break up in addition to that.

You watch this team play with a swagger, a confidence. They just went on the road for the first time as Power Five members and beat a Power Five opponent they weren’t supposed to beat.

There’s still a lot of football left to play. We know that. There’s still nine conference games. There’s still big road tests. There’s still Oklahoma.

But watch the confidence this team plays with and you can’t help but think this team could win eight, maybe nine games. I’m not saying this team is going to play for a conference championship, but you can certainly start to raise what you think this team can do.

The Bearcats are at the big boys table. Expectations can be raised a little bit. There’s a lot of football left to play, but if this team keeps answering the questions that surround them they are going to be better than we thought. They’ve already exceeded expectations. You should raise the ones you have for this team.
