The Bearcats (2-1) are set to kick off Big 12 conference play this Saturday as they welcome in Brett Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) to historic Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats are looking to avenge their 31-24 overtime loss to rival Miami, which was just their second loss at Nippert Stadium dating back to 2019. “Obviously disappointed with how that game went on Saturday, obviously that was something we didn’t anticipate, nor did we want,” said Satterfield. “However, you have to give Miami credit, they finished it off and won the game. We have to learn from that game, move on to this week as we open up Big 12 conference play.”
The Bearcats, who are entering their first season in the Big 12 conference, kick off their inaugural football game vs nationally ranked, Oklahoma, but also will play host to Fox Big Noon Kickoff, that will take place starting at 10 am on Saturday, with the stage set up on the Bearcat Commons lawn, the same place College GameDay was set up in 2021.
“I want to mention how awesome the atmosphere was on Saturday vs Miami; our fans are incredible. There was certainly not one empty seat in Nippert Stadium, the fans were into it, what a great college football scene,” said Satterfield. “We anticipate having that crowd again this Saturday with Oklahoma coming to town for our first Big 12 conference game. We are very excited about that, very excited to be playing in this league. I wasn’t here but I think about all the people and the hard work that went into getting us to the power five and Big 12, whether its past coaches, administrators, presidents, just all the hard work that went into that process. We are looking forward to playing this Big 12 game vs Oklahoma, Big Noon Kickoff is coming to town, this is a big-time atmosphere, for a big-time game on Saturday. We’re looking forward to it.”
