Previewing the Bearcats next Opponent: No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners

Three headed monster– The Bearcats have had a 100-yard rusher in each of their three games this season after Corey Kiner did so vs EKU and Pittsburgh, while Ryan Montgomery and Emory Jones both rushed for over 100 yards in the team’s loss to Miami. However, the Bearcats know how important the run game will be come Saturday, which will allow them to open up the playbook if they can get those guys going early. Xzavier Henderson comes in ranked tied for first for receptions within the Big 12, however, keep an eye on how the Bearcats will look to get him involved on Saturday especially if the run game gets going. Henderson had huge weeks vs EKU and Miami, after being limited to just one catch vs Pittsburgh.

“They’re quarterback Emory Jones is their second leading rusher, a 6th year player who is very experienced,” said Brett Venables. “They are very explosive at wide receiver with Xzavier Henderson, who’s a fantastic player, and tied for first in the Big 12 with receptions (20). They have a three headed monster on offense along with a defense that has set such a high standard of success over the last few years. It will be a very confident group that we line up with on Saturday with Cincinnati.”

It all starts up front with the run game for the Bearcats and if they can get that going early and control the pace of the game they should be in great hands. Just due to the fact of how quick Oklahoma loves to play, the more you can keep the offense on the field, the better they will be, just as we all know Venables will want to wear the Bearcats defense down like has teams prior.

Oklahoma enters this contest as 87% favorites according to ESPN’s matchup predictor. Can Scott Satterfield and the Bearcats pull off the upset and get a huge win in their first ever Big 12 conference game. We will see on Saturday as kickoff is slated for 12 pm on FOX.
