Previewing the Bearcats next Opponent: BYU Cougars

The Bearcats (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) make the trek to Provo, Utah later this afternoon ahead of Friday night’s game against BYU (3-1, 0-1 Big 12). The Bearcats are coming off a 20-6 loss to No. 16 Oklahoma on Saturday, but now have a challenge ahead of them as they make the trip across the country through two time zones ahead of Friday’s night’s contest.

However, for the Cougars, this is their first Big 12 conference home game since joining the conference on July 1st. A situation the Bearcats have a slight advantage on, despite the loss, the Bearcats welcomed in the 11th largest crowd in program history last week when the Bearcats hosted Oklahoma. For the Cougars, the atmosphere will have to be built off the fans unlike the Bearcats Big 12 home opener after welcoming in Big Noon Kickoff.

Scott Satterfield on BYU

“We have BYU this week. They are a great football team. I have a lot of respect for what they have been able to accomplish over the last few years. We have a short week as we travel to Utah. BYU is very solid on defense. They made the change last year to a new defensive coordinator heading into the season and have been very solid on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively they brought in transfer quarterback Kedon Slovis, who was happened to play last season when he was at Pittsburgh. Like Emory Jones, Slovis is on his 3rd school and has played a lot of ball. He is a very experienced player, very poised, throws a great ball, you probably won’t rattle him, with things you do defensively. I think they are a very solid football team; they play complimentary on all three levels. It’s going to be another challenge for us especially on the road at Lavelle Edwards Stadium, but we are looking forward to that challenge,”
