Looking at the cornerbacks on the 2024 Bearcats roster

#10, Derrick Canteen, 5’11”, 197 lbs., R-Sr., Evans, Ga., Previously played for Georgia Southern and Virginia Tech
Canteen is a former Freshman All-American- wonder which other former Bearcats defensive back was a Freshman All-American?- when he was with Georgia Southern in 2020. He tied for the FBS lead in interceptions that year with six and broke up 10 passes. Canteen has 34 pass breakups in his career, and he’s coming off a 2023 season at Virginia Tech where he recorded 43 tackles.

#14, Zaravion Johnson, 6’2″, 175 lbs., Fr., Clinton, S.C.
Johnson is an early enrollee from Clinton High School, a Top 25 prospect in South Carolina and a Top 100 cornerback according to ESPN. Johnson was also named to the 2023 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game.

#20, Mekhi Miller, 6’1″, 200 lbs., R-Sr., Park Forest, Ill., Previously played for Miami (Ohio) and New Mexico State
A former team captain in high school, Miller is coming off a really good two seasons at New Mexico State. In 2023, Miller recorded 60 tackles and two interceptions including one returned for a touchdown. Miller broke up 11 passes in his two seasons at New Mexico State, a stint that came after 13 games in three seasons at Miami (Ohio).

#21, Kalen Carroll, 5’11”, 180 lbs., R-So., Indianapolis, Ind.
Carroll was thrown into the fire when he started the final four games at cornerback in 2023. He fared well with two tackles and two pass break-ups in each of his first two starts and a season-high four tackles with a pass break-up in the season-finale against Kansas.
