Bearcats TE Payten Singletary enters transfer portal

Cincinnati’s tight end room has now experienced a complete rebuild heading into the 2024 season.

Moments ago it was reported that Cincinnati tight end Payten Singletary has entered the transfer portal. Singletary shared majority snaps of the snaps at the tight end position alongside Chamon Matayer in 2023.

Singletary finished the 2023 season with just 12 receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns. However, it’s worth noting that Singletary excelled in the run game as a pass blocker.

Now, with Cincinnati’s additions of Joe Royer alongside senior Joey Beljan and true freshman Gavin Grover it is clear to see that Singletary was the odd man out following spring ball. Beljan missed the entire 2023 season due to a knee injury but had a fantastic spring and showed why he was a priority target in Satterfield’s first transfer portal cycle upon taking the Cincinnati job.

However, it’s also worth noting that Gavin Grover had a fantastic spring and plays the part of a Big 12 tight end. Grover stands 6’7” weighing 240 pounds but excels in the pass blocking game as well as a receiver and is someone who can make a legitimate impact in year one.

However, Singletary now enters the portal with two years of eligibility left.

TFON wishes Payten the best of luck on his next stop of his playing career.
