Front Office weekly rundown 8/3/12

This week has been about the Olympics and the all of the Penn State players that have transferred away. I thought the media said they were going to stay? But anyways check out this weeks rundown.

NBA

The Golden State Warriors had a busy week as they signed PF Carl Landry and resigned SG/SF Brandon Rush. They both got 2 year 8 million dollar contracts.

The Phoenix Suns signed my man P.J. Tucker to a 2 year deal. Man I’m happy for Tucker he was one of my favorite players when he was at Texas. You probably don’t give two s***s about this signing but I care.

The Chicago Bulls signed guard Nate Robinson. Nate is a 3 time dunk champion (Iggy is pissed about one of them) and will provide the Bulls with a solid scoring punch off of the bench.

The biggest news of the week which has been swept under the rug is the Orlando Magic finally signing a head coach. They chose Jacque Vaughn, yessss Jacque Vaughn, so this is how they plan on keeping Dwight? Word? But if you think about it Vaughn will have a solid chance at being a great coach, why? Because as bad as his NBA career was it’s only right that he be a great coach, right Phil Jackson? hmmm

MLB

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired OF Shane Victorino from the Phillies for P Josh Lindblom, Minor League pitcher Ethan Martin and cash or a player to be named. Victorino is a 2x all-star and 3x gold glover, he is a very good pick up for the Dodgers. The Magic Man spending money

The San Francisco Giants completed a trade Tuesday to acquire outfielder Hunter Pence from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for outfielder Nate Schierholtz, Double-A catcher Tommy Joseph and Class A pitcher Seth Rosin. Pence was a good pick up for the Giants the two-time all-star will help out a lot in San Fran.

The Kansas City Royals acquired minor league left-handed reliever Donnie Joseph and right-handed starter J.C. Sulbaran  from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for right-handed reliever Jonathan Broxton. The Reds received a quality reliever to throw in an already good bullpen.

After the slew of injuries to the Rangers pitching staff they swooped up Ryan Dempster from the Cubs to help solidify their rotation.

The Angels traded for P Zack Greinke and gave the Brewers rookie shortstop Jean Segura and Double-A right-handers Ariel Pena and Johnny Hellweg. Greinke will help the Angels make a strong playoff run.

NCAA

Man this whole column is about Penn State. I thought nobody was leaving ESPN?? Yeah ok!

K Anthony Fera will transfer to Texas. OL Ryan Nowicki will transfer to Illinois. QB Rob Bolden will transfer to LSU. RB Slias Redd will transfer to USC. * Southern California to you Gamecocks fans… LB Khairi Fortt will transfer to California.

NFL

The Cleveland Browns were sold this week for a cool billion, mannnn a billie that’s cheese. They were sold to a Steeler fan which is odd that used to be a minority owner (10-16%) of the team. Money talks bullsh*t walks people that’s what this proves…

DE J.J. Watt dislocated his elbow at practice may miss the whole preseason but should be ready to go week 1 of the regular season.

The Eagles traded away LB’s Moise Fokou and Greg Lloyd to the Colts for CB Kevin Thomas and a conditional 7th rd pick in the 2013 draft.

OLYMPICS

Gabby Douglas won Gold in All-Around Gymnastics. First African-American to win Gold in the All Around.

Michael Phelps is now at 20 medals in counting. Congrats to Phelps for winning Gold in the 200m.
