In Kenny Guiton we Trust

The past two Saturdays have been magical for Kenny Guiton. Guiton, who has stepped in for the injured Braxton Miller has played lights out football.  Guiton was recently named Walter Camp Player  of the Week after having over 350 total yards to go with three touchdowns against Cal on the road. I know Guiton is not dominating Alabama, but you have to appreciate what Kenny Guiton means to the Buckeyes.

Kenny Guiton can probably start Quarterback for majority of the teams in College Football, but he is the backup quarterback to Braxton Miller. Guiton is a smooth operator at the QB position. He isn’t as dynamic on the ground as Miller, but he is a playmaker. Last season Guiton became a favorite of head coach Urban Meyer after changing his ways as a player and becoming a leader in the locker room.

Guiton, who is in his senior season was voted as one of the team captains despite being a backup quarterback. Guiton may not be on the field every play, but all of his teammates respect Guiton when he speaks, or if No. 13 takes the field. In an era where collegiate athletes are perceived as divas it is refreshing to see someone like Guiton be a complete team player.

Guiton was a recruit of Jim Tressel, and he could have easily transfered from the program when things didn’t go his way earlier in his career. It may sound cliche’, but patience is really a virtue.

If the Buckeyes hoist up the crystal ball at the end of the season No. 13 will have a lot to do with it. People may say that he is a backup quarterback, but his impact on the team is irreplaceable. Whether you see Guiton filling in for Miller on the the field or on the sidelines next to Coach Meyer there are no worries when it comes to Kenny G.
