Looking at the American League Wildcard race

Rangers-RaysWith less than two weeks left in the season we need to see who still has a shot to play some ball in October.

There are two teams who will have a shot at the one game playoff for the wildcard position. After playing 162 games the one game playoff will be a gift to some and a curse to others depending on how that team arrived to that point.

The American League Wildcard race is a lot tighter than the National League they have 6 teams with a legit shot with a 7th team holding on by a prayer.  With a little less than two weeks left  everything night for AL Teams a lot of people will be scoreboard watching.

The season ends on September 29th let’s see who still have a fighting chance to make the playoffs.
(Records are as of the morning of 9/18)

Texas Rangers (82-68)- The Rangers have been a staple in the last few playoffs they will have to earn it this year.

Tampa Bay Rays (82-68)- The Rays have become major players in the MLB the last decade this race will be tough but as of now they are in.

Cleveland Indians (82-69) .5 games back- A month ago the Indians seemed to be making vacation plans now they are back in the fight.

Baltimore Orioles (80-70) 2 games back- The Orioles have finally found a winning formula will it be enough for them to leapfrog the two leaders?

New York Yankees (79-72) 3.5 games back- With all of the turmoil in NY it shows a lot about the Yankees for them to even have a shot at the postseason this year. You can’t count them out.

Kansas City Royals (79-72) 3.5 games back- I can’t even lie, I had no idea the Royals were playing this good. They are in striking distance.

Los Angeles Angels (73-78) 9.5 games back- The Angels are pretty much on vacation unless a miracles happens.

September 29th will be the last day of the season, who will be in the one game playoff?
