The Patriots make a sneaky good move for before the deadline

IssacSIf you know me then you know I have a disdain for the Patriots but even with my disdain, I’m not blind to how good the organization is.

Lately they have been the king of making the quick deal for little of nothing aka the low risk high reward angle. They have failed using this model and they have succeeded using this model. See, Ochocinco and Haynesworth for failure and see, Welker and Talib for success.

On Tuesday the Pats traded for DT Issac Sopoaga of the Philadelphia Eagles and formerly of the San Francisco 49ers. The Pats gave up a 5th round pick and received Issac and a 6th round in return.

This isn’t a blockbuster trade by any means but with the d line being ravaged by injury, Wilfork being done for the year and Kelly out for a significant amount of time, this is a very nice pick up. Issac was a rock in the 49ers middle for years and can help a team who gets ran on up the gut a lot of support. He’s better in a 3-4 system but if used as a stuffer he can work in the 4-3 also.

Hats off to the Pats for making a move that will help their run defense moving forward. Even thought I want to hate I can’t salute you guys did it again.
