The Jig is Up For EA Sports and NBA Live

After taking a few years off it appears that NBA Live is back. About ten years ago this would exciting news, but now its just an afterthought. I can’t sit her and lie and say that I was never a huge fan of NBA Live. NBA Live 95 is probably one of my favorite video games of all time. Video game lovers fell in love with Live, because it was the best basketball game out at that time. NBA Live had a long run of dominance until Sega Dreamcast introduced the NBA 2K series. Though, NBA 2K was gaining steam on NBA Live at the time, Live still remained at the top of the game.

I don’t what happened at EA sports in the past few years, but it seems like the game became worse by the year. NBA Live 2005 was the last time the game was actually worth playing. After that it has been all downhill. The demise of NBA Live has propelled NBA 2K to the forefront. With backing from LeBron James and Michael Jordan the 2k series has completely taken over when it comes to basketball video games.

There has been many screenshots of the new game, and they have been more laughable more than anything. The graphics on the game are very poor, and I can only imagine how the game play is. It’s commendable for NBA Live to try to make a comeback, but who said all comebacks were wanted. Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavs graces the cover of the game, and that may be the only positive about the game.

EA sports should concede to 2k sports when it comes to making basketball games. It’s time for NBA Live to exit the shelves….again.

  1. I don’t think this is fair… Live doesn’t look that way right now. Early shots were ugly but it looks much better.
