The Spoiled Buckeye Fan

Tonight THE Ohio State Buckeyes face off against Clemson in the Orange Bowl. I am pretty sure I am not the only one disappointed that we aren’t playing in the National Championship game, but it is really a blessing in disguise.

Could you imagine our depleted defense playing against Jameis Winston and Florida State? I’m not saying that the Bucks can’t contain Winston, but in all honesty we let Connor Cook and Devin Gardner have career games against us.

A trip to the Orange Bowl is not as bad as fans make it out to be. This will be the 10th BCS game that Buckeyes will be playing in, which is also a record. The Buckeyes have been the model of consistency, and sometimes fans just want to settle for championships.

Ask fans of schools such as TTUN, Virgina Tech, UCLA, and Tennesee if they would take an Orange Bowl bid. I’m pretty sure that the Orange Bowl or any BCS bowl would be at the top of the list.

To all fans watching the game, don’t sulk and think about how we missed out on a national championship berth. Urban Meyer is a top 3 coach in the country, and our day will come sooner rather than later.

Being a spoiled as a Buckeye fan is something we all deal with. How many schools can say they’ve played in 10 BCS Bowl games? It’s tough to be appreciative when you want to reach the highest level, but if the Orange Bowl is a so-called consolation prize, then it’s a damn good consolation prize to me.

Memo to fans: At least we aren’t playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Go Bucks, beat Clemson!
