How Xavier’s first year in the Big East is going?

semaj-christonWith the Big East being reformed this year, Xavier is now a part of the new 10 team league. All of the teams in the league are all non D-1 football schools. This was a good move for the Big East and it also was a great move for Xavier.

Xavier is always a solid program, but nobody knew how the transition from the Atlantic 10 to the Big East would go. Experts knew they would competitive, but would they be in the top tier of the conference? With 3 regular season games left for the Musketeers, I’m here to say their first year has been a success. I know it has been a rollercoaster ride for X, but they are one win from 20 wins and they are currently 3rd in the conference.

The conference currently has two top 10 teams, which is a good look for the conference.

X has been led by the strong play of Semaj Christon, who is the teams leading scorer and 2nd on the team in assists. Dee Davis is his backcourt running mate who is 1st in assists on the team. With solid backcourt play they may be able to shock a few teams in the tournament. They also have a solid front line, led by Matt Stainbrook. A big man to keep an eye on is Freshman Jalen Reynolds he’s been stepping up lately.

Overall their first season in the Big East has been great and in the near future X may be at the top of the conference. They still have two games left versus the two top teams in the conference (Creighton and Villianova). Good luck to X, from the A-10 to the Big East they have just kept rolling.
