The owner of the Los Angeles Clippers Donald Sterling has been in the news recently, due to recorded conversation he had with his “mistress”. In that conversation Sterling voiced that he wasn’t too fond of her being associated with Black people. Those weren’t his exact words, but Sterling’s message was very clear.

Listen:

A lot of people such as LeBron James, Snoop Dogg, Magic Johnson, Lil Wayne, and Michael Jordan displayed their feelings concerning this situation. I personally believe that Sterling was wrong, and I am pretty sure that he is not the only owner of any team, business, or agency feels this way about African Americans. Does Sterling comments have the same feel as slavery? I don’t want to take it that far since the NBA players are making hundreds of millions of dollars, but the issue here is ignorance. I said I wouldn’t touch the topic, but this is something that shouldn’t be swept under the rug.

It’s 2014, and to no surprise racism is still here. It’s funny to see that Sterling finally get recognized for what many people have been saying about him for a very long time. Elgin Baylor, Danny Manning, Joe Safety, Alexandra Castro, and Kim Hughes can all vouch for Sterling’s belligerent behavior. Sterling has been called the worst owner in sports for a very long time, and it will continue to stay that way.

Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Doc Rivers, and the rest of Clippers are in uncomfortable territory. This is a team that has 13 African American players, and an African American head coach. I’m sure that they want to win for themselves, but I am sure that they want to stick it to their owner. Chris Paul is as fiery as they come, and he led a charge yesterday against the Warriors where the players warmed up in plain red t-shirts.

The Clippers were blown out yesterday in an important game against the Warriors. It’s hard to see the Clippers play with any pride at this moment, and the future of the Clippers will be cloudy as long as Sterling is the owner. Los Angeles was forming a hotbed for free agents with the addition of Paul and and Griffin, but those days will be long gone after this.

Right when people thought that the Clippers were going to be the new kings of L.A. They end up in the familiar spotlight of being the laughing stock of the NBA. I don’t know the plans that NBA commissioner has for Donald Sterling, but something needs to be done fast. I’m betting that Sterling gets fined, and will probably be suspended. It will interesting to see what happens at this point, but something needs be be done ASAP.

I know it’s cliche, but whatever is done in the dark comes to the light. With that said , Donald Sterling has been a known racist for a very long time, and it’s finally here for people to witness.

You’ve heard my ramblings about the situation, what are your thoughts?
