TFON Interview with Middleweight Boxing contender Curtis “Showtime” Stevens

curtisstevensI was able to set up an interview with Middleweight contender Curtis “Showtime” Stevens a few weeks ago and he was gracious enough to set some time aside to answer a few questions for me. Stevens has a record of 27-4 with 20 KOs. He is known for his punching power and exciting style of fighting. If you aren’t hip to Stevens make sure you check him out next time he throws on the gloves.

JS-  I saw on your twitter account people were kind of attacking you because of the GGG fight. What did you learn from that fight? And would like a possible rematch in the future?

CS- I learned not to think too much.  I was over thinking trying to make the perfect shot instead of just relaxing and letting my hands flow.  I was trying to look for that knockout shot instead of just letting it flow the way it naturally flows.

Of course I would like a rematch with GGG.  I have learned from my mistakes.  I know what not to do next time.

JT- I’ve seen you’ve been back on a winning path in 2014 with two KO wins. How much work do you see yourself getting the rest of 2014?

CS- I already fought twice for the year so far.  I would to try to get about 4-5 more good fights in.  My goal is to be world champion so I need to get another 4-5 more good fights in to push me to that next level.

JS- Which weight class do you like fighting at the best?

CS- I love fighting at middleweight but if there was an prize at 154, or there was something offered at 154 that made it worth my while to fight at 154, I would take on the task at hand.

JS- Is there any particular fighter that you want to get in the ring with in the near future?

CS- I would love to take on Cotto but I would have to get to that superstar status.  That is a long term goal I have in mind.  Short term goal is Kid Chocolate.

JS- When not training and preparing for a fight, what does Curtis do for fun?

CS- I travel the world.  I get more stamps in my passport.  I just enjoy life.

Make sure y’all follow Curtis on Twitter. Stevens has a possible fight September 30th against Hassan N’Dam, make sure y’all check it out. Thanks for the interview “Showtime” and good luck in all of your fights.
