The Reds avoid arbitration with Mesoraco and Frazier

Sorry my fellow Reds fans, with basketball and football abuzz I didn’t even realize some of these moves were on tap. The Reds have had a busy off season for their standards, they traded Simon and Latos. They also traded for Marlon Byrd and now they have avoided arbitration on two of their young stars.

The two stars are Todd Frazier and Devin Mesoraco. Both players made the All-Star team last season and this winter they have received new contracts. Mesoraco received a four year $28 million deal and Frazier received two years $12 million.

Mesoraco, 26 years of age hit .273/25/80 (BA, HR, RBI) last year which isn’t anything to sneeze at especially considering he’s a catcher.

Frazier, 28 years of age hit .273/29/80 (BA, HR, RBI) last year. Very similar numbers to his counterpart.

I like these deal for the Reds they weren’t too long or too pricey so if they don’t improve they can get rid of either one of them if they have to, but if they stay the same or play even better they have some of the best deals in the majors.

The best thing about the MLB is that money will get paid in full, so fellas enjoy your new found wealth. Hopefully both players will be All-Star’s again this year especially since the All-Star game will be in Cincinnati in July.
