TFON Interview with NKU guard Anthony Monaco

I was spared a few minutes to talk with NKU guard Anthony Monaco a few weeks ago. Monaco is currently 4.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg and 33.9% from 3. The Dover, Ohio native is known for his sharp shooting. (I think I may have jinxed him a little after the interview)

AM= Anthony Monaco

JS= Jesse Smith

JS= What has triggered your hot shooting from behind the arc this year?

AM= A lot of work in the off-season, I have to credit a lot to my dad, he actually bought a gun (not a weapon) and he really helped me, he was in the gym every night with me.

JS= What players past or present do you try to model your game after?

AM= This summer I watched Steph Curry, I really like how he shoots the ball, he probably the best shooter in the NBA and when his career is all said and done may be the best shooter of all time. I like watching how he comes off screens, how finds himself open and that kind of stuff has really helped me.

JS= How cool is it to be Bob Huggins nephew?

AM= (laughs) It’s pretty cool, I’m not going to lie. People see it for a lot more than what it is, I just see him as my uncle. He’s just a genuine guy, every time he’s around the family, he will do whatever he can for you and he’s going to help anybody he can.

JS= Are you excited about conference (Atlantic Sun) play?

AM= Yeah real excited, I’m thinking we are going to win it. Whatever we can do as a team and whatever I can do as an individual, hopefully we are cutting down the nets at end of the season.

JS= What does Anthony do for fun?

AM= I like to fish, every time I’m home even my uncle like to go to the lake and fish. That’s my favorite hobby.

Good luck to Anthony and the rest of the Norse as they currently battle in the Atlantic Sun.
