RECAP: White and Johnson lead Norse past Spartans 84-65

Tonight’s game was very important for NKU as they needed a win to clinch the 4th spot in Atlantic Sun conference. Clinching the 4th spot would give the Norse a home game in the conference tournament. USC Upstate came into the game locked in the 3rd spot in the conference at 21-9 overall and 8-5 in the conference. The Norse came into the game 12-16 overall and 6-7 in conference.

Tonight was senior night at The Bank of Kentucky Center for Chad and Jordan Jackson.

The first half was a personal shootout between Ty Greene and Todd Johnson. Greene dropped 12 points in the first half as he kept his Spartans in striking distance of the Norse. Todd Johnson had 18 at the half on 6/7 shooting from 3 and 4 rebounds, including a big 3 by at the end of the half. Johnson’s 3 put the Norse up 35-32 at the half.

The second half was a massacre conducted by the Norse as they won the half 49-33. The whole band joined the song as four Norse finished in double figures the lead singers were Tyler White and Todd Johnson who had 19 and 24 points respectively, Johnson also added 6 rebounds. Tayler Persons had 14 points and 4 assists. Jalen Billups had 11 points, 10 rebounds and a few rim shakers, I wish I had some vine videos to show the masses those nice plays.

Ty Greene finished with 21 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Norse won 84-65.

This win clinched the 4th spot for the Norse and allows them to have a home game on Tuesday against Lipscomb at 7pm. This is the first conference tournament for the Norse so how cool is it that they can host a game in their first tournament? I’ll answer it for you, very cool. This win was a great builder for this program.
