After six months of hard-nosed baseball, the MLB season is finally coming to an end, and with it comes the fierce discussion of deciding who gets to be the Most Valuable Player of both the National & American League. Some players have stepped up big time by having career-highs in nearly every facet of their respective position within the diamond while others have put up the same kind of numbers they’re known for usually making.
The list of this year’s MVP candidates has names that every baseball fan is all too familiar with. Names such as Mike Trout, Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Max Scherzer, Chris Sale. The list goes on and on. However, in the face of such stars, one must also take note of the young guns that have taken the majors by storm. They include Christian Yelich, Tony Snell, Alex Bregman, Matt Chapman, Jacob deGrom, Freddie Freeman and various others.
Taking all of these people into account, it’s pretty easy to see that there’s no clear, undisputed front-runner in either league for the MVP award. That’s why unofficial polls conducted during the season have been looked at with extreme interest. Sure, they don’t declare the winner outright in those polls, but it’s fun to speculate as fans in seeing who’s the most deserving of the award.
As such, for right now, we’ll look at the people who are touted as favorites in taking home their respective league’s MVP awards.
