Stat line: 6.3 WAR (3rd in NL), .563 SLG pct. (2nd in NL), 173 hits (8th in NL), 332 total bases (1st in NL), 34 HR, 111 RBI (1st in NL)

The man leading the Chicago Cubs into the postseason once again for the 4th straight year. His 5-year career has been on an upward trajectory that has hit its zenith this year. There’s a chance he will be even better next year, but for now, let’s focus on the present. Much like Yelich, he is having a career year in nearly every available offensive category. A wizard of the glove, Baez has proved himself in being the class of second base in the National League. He takes care of any problem with his glove whenever the ball is put into play. In the last 2 MLB.com Writers’ Polls, Baez has seen a rise in its rankings, going up from outside of the top 3 into 2nd place in the weeks of September 11 and September 28. With this kind of momentum by his side, it’ll be interesting to see how he manages to change the NL MVP discussion with his current play.
