Strong second half leads Bearcats to 14 point comeback 72-68 win over Owls

After blowing out Tulsa on Thursday they traveled to Philadelphia, PA to face the Temple Owls. If you have been following the Cincinnati/Temple saga they normally have tough games, just go check out the game winner from Jacob Evans last season on the road. Would Cincinnati be able to handle business Sunday afternoon?

The game was a tale of two halves foul trouble for Keith Williams didn’t help the road teams cause as the second leading scorer picked up two to saddle him. Hot shooting from behind the arc for Temple got them up to a 35-25 lead at halftime. After half it started off rough for Cincinnati, but Jarron Cumberland caught fire helping lead his team back from a 14 point deficit to finally take a lead with a little more than five minutes left in the game. Timely plays by Tre Scott and Justin Jenifer helped push Cincinnati over the hump.

They didn’t shoot great, but they dominated the rebounding battle 46-22 which is a whopping 24 rebound difference and won the offensive rebound battle 16-3, that makes up for shooting 40% from the line and 16.7% from three. Temple finished at 37.5% from three after having a hot first half.

Cumberland led the way with 25 points followed by Scott with 13 points.

Cincinnati is now 18-3 overall and 7-1 in the AAC after the big come from behind 72-68 win.

Because of my kids sporting events I didn’t get to do an in-depth recap so I added highlights of the game. They are off until Saturday when they will face SMU at Fifth Third Arena at 8 p.m.
